Bonnaroo 2009 Lineup Announced

The folks who stage Bonnaroo every year have announced the 2009 festival lineup, and the diversity that has crept into the festival continues to expand while still retaining the festival's jamband roots.

Dirty hippies everywhere will rejoice when they read (they can read, can't they?) that the re-united Phish will play not one, but two shows during the festival. That's double the body odor for those you keeping score at home.

Seriously though, this diverse lineup has something for everyone - from Bruce Springsteen, Beastie Boys and Nine Inch Nails to Gov't Mule, Bon Iver and Wilco. Who wants to go to Tennessee?

Phish Confirm Summer Tour

According to multiple sources on the net, jamband Phish will not only reform for a series of shows at the Hampton Collesium in Virginia March 6-8, but the band has announced a summer tour beginning in early June and lasting through the month.

As trustafarians around the country call their investment banker, aka Mommy and Daddy, to begin securing funds for travel plans and deposits on nitrous tanks, the rumor that Phish will headline the Bonnarroo festival June 11 - 14th and restore the festival to full crunchy jamband glory after Metallica, Tool and other non-jam bands annihilated festival goers eardrums in recent years will help complete jamband fan's inner-most dreams and unlock the 9th ring of hell, thus fulfilling prophesies by Nostradamus and Tom Cruise.

Build your hippy bunker now.

Bootleg Of The Month: Pearl Jam at Bonnaroo

One actual positive benefit of the internet and contemporary technology is the sharing of live music recordings. A music fan can determine if their favorite band actually doesn't suck live, collect an audio memento of a show they attended or just obsessively collect shows of their favorite bands.

We can't tell you how many times we've been turned on to new artists from listening to and trading live shows. Plus, it's awesome to listen to band's fuck up, hear a group of wasted people sing off key and clap out of time near the microphones recording the show, and remember what it was like to be at that show a few weeks ago.

This month, HF recommends Pearl Jam live a Bonnaroo.

With no new album to support and making their first appearance at the festival, PJ dug deep into their catalog, playing rarities like set opener "Hard to Imagine", "Who You Are" and the never-performed-live-before-this-tour "All Night". A cover of Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower" brings the set to a roaring finale.
