O'Brien, Pearl Jam Reconnect

Album #9 Under Construction

According to Pearl Jam fan site TheSkyIScrape, Pearl Jam has been demoing new songs with producer/compression specialist Brendan O'Brien. Lead guitarist Mike McCready spoke on Seattle radio last week and confirmed that the band had already completed one session with O'Brien in the studio and looked to reconnect with him after their June summer tour and appearance at Bonnaroo.

The work-in-progress album will be PJ's ninth and the first time they've worked with O'Brien since 1998's Yield. PJ's last album was 2006s Pearl Jam or as fans call it "the avocado album".

Brendan O'Brien is famous for producing every single album from the 1990s*, including Rage Against the Machine, Stone Temple Pilots, and Bruuuuuce Springsteen as well as being at the controls for Pearl Jam's most commercially successful albums Vs. and Vitalogy.

*This statement is not true, but it damn sure feels that way.
